What actually changed.

Moto Guzzi's longitudinal V-twin retro naked · 2005-2016
Longitudinal V-twin layout Moto Guzzi signature Moto Guzzi's transverse-mounted V-twin is unique in production motorcycling — cylinders pointing left and right rather than fore and aft. Same engine architecture used in V7, V9, Stelvio, California, V100 Mandello. Griso was the retro muscle interpretation of this Guzzi-signature engine.
Why it ended 2016 Euro 4 + sales Euro 4 in 2017 would have required engine update Moto Guzzi chose not to fund. Combined with declining muscle-naked sales, Griso was killed 2016. Moto Guzzi focused development on V7 (smaller, mass market) and V100 Mandello (modern sport-tourer with liquid-cooling).
Griso 1100 → Griso 8V +87cc, +23bhp, 2007 2005-2007 Griso 1100 (1064cc, 87bhp). 2007-2016 Griso 8V (1151cc, 110bhp) with 4-valve heads. Same chassis, more power. The 8V is the buy on used market — better in every measurable way except price (commands $1k premium).
Real cost trajectory −10% real (vs V100) $8,999 Griso 1100 in 2006 ($15,100 today) → $14,750 V100 Mandello in 2026. Slight real-terms decrease. V100 has more rider aids (cornering ABS, TC, ride modes), liquid-cooling, modern electronics. Used market in 2026: Griso 1100 $3.5-5.5k, Griso 8V $4.5-7k for clean low-mile.
vs V100 Mandello in 2026 Different engine concept V100 Mandello (1042cc liquid-cooled longitudinal V-twin, 115bhp): modern, sharp, electronic. Griso 8V (1151cc air-cooled longitudinal V-twin, 110bhp): traditional, retro, simpler. Same Guzzi DNA, different generation. V100 has cornering ABS, TC, ride modes — Griso has none.
Rider aids count (2005 → 2016) 1 → 2 Griso 1100 had FI as the only rider aid. Griso 8V (2014+) added standard ABS. No TC, no ride modes, no electronics across the entire production run. Pure 2000s Italian retro experience.
Cheapest way in $3.5k A clean Griso 1100 from 2005-2007. 87bhp longitudinal V-twin, retro muscle styling, shaft drive, that classic Italian Guzzi character. Pay attention to electrics, reg/rec, final drive splines. Service through Moto Guzzi specialists for best parts availability.
