Royal Enfield India

Royal Enfield Bullet 350. The world's longest-running motorcycle nameplate.

First built 1932 in Redditch, England. Production moved to Madras 1955 to fulfil an Indian Army order. Royal Enfield UK shut in 1971. The Indian factory just kept building it — same air-cooled 350 single, same cast-iron engine, same kick-start, decade after decade. Eicher Motors bought RE in 1994. The 2026 Bullet 350 still looks like the 1948 Bullet but now uses the modern J-platform engine: 20bhp, fuel injection, ABS.

What actually changed.

1996 → 2026 · 30 years of "progress"
World's longest-running model 1932-2026 (94 years) The Bullet has been continuously produced since 1932 in some form — first in Redditch UK, then Madras (now Chennai) India from 1955, where production continued unbroken even after RE UK collapsed in 1971. Guinness lists it as the longest-running motorcycle nameplate.
Eicher saved the brand 1994 buyout Eicher Motors bought Royal Enfield in 1994. They spent the late 90s/2000s engineering the modern UCE engine to replace the cast-iron lump, then in 2020 launched the J-platform — the basis of every modern 350 RE.
J-platform = same engine as Classic 350 Shared parts The 2026 Bullet, Classic 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350 all share the same J-platform 349cc single (~20bhp, 27Nm). Different chassis, ergonomics and styling — same heart. Spares are interchangeable.
It's a low-bhp commuter, not a touring bike 20bhp, 195kg 20bhp pulling 195kg means motorway speeds (70mph) leave very little in reserve. Most owners use it for short urban runs and B-roads. If you want highway capability stay 650+.
Cheapest new RE in the UK £4,499 OTR The 2026 Bullet 350 is the cheapest new Royal Enfield. The Hunter 350 (£3,999) is technically cheaper as the entry point, but the Bullet is the heritage flagship of the 350 range.
US: $4,799 starting 200+ dealers nationwide Royal Enfield USA sells the Bullet 350 for $4,799 starting. Lifetime warranty plans, Tripper Nav, and a strong dealer network through 200+ outlets in 2026.
