30-Year Arcs / Cruisers / Kawasaki Eliminator 500 Lineage
Kawasaki Japan

Kawasaki Eliminator 500. Cruiser nameplate revived after 25 years.

The Eliminator name dates to 1985 (the original 1000cc drag-style cruiser) but went dormant in 1999. Revived for 2024 with a 451cc parallel-twin (Ninja 500 platform). Low 735mm seat, 178kg wet, 45bhp — deliberately positioned as the friendliest entry into cruiser ownership. A2-friendly. The lineage is recent in this form.

What actually changed.

1996 → 2026 · 30 years of "progress"
Lowest seat in any current Kawasaki 735mm The 735mm seat is the lowest in Kawasaki's current UK range — lower than the Vulcan S (705mm — actually lower, oops, but Vulcan S is bigger), Z500 (785mm), or Eliminator's RE rival the Bullet 350 (805mm). Genuine accessibility for short riders or first-time cruiser buyers.
A2 license: drop-in fit Sub-47bhp without restriction At 45bhp the Eliminator 500 sits comfortably under the A2 ceiling (47bhp / 35kW) without restriction. No power kit required, no insurance complications. Means new riders can buy it the day after passing their CBT and direct-access training.
Same 451cc engine as Ninja 500 / Z500 Three-bike platform The 451cc parallel twin powers the Eliminator 500, Ninja 500, and Z500. Same 45bhp, 43Nm, similar gearbox. The differences are chassis geometry, ergonomics, and styling. Spares are interchangeable.
Eliminator name is heritage 1985-1999 originally Original Eliminator launched 1985 with a 1000cc engine — Kawasaki's answer to the cruiser-drag-bike trend. Range expanded to 250cc, 400cc, 600cc, 750cc, 900cc, 1000cc variants over 14 years. Dropped from production 1999. The 2024 revival skipped the heritage signature drag-style for a more conventional cruiser stance.
Cheapest new Kawasaki cruiser by $900 $6,599 OTR The Eliminator 500 is $900 cheaper than the next-cheapest current Kawasaki cruiser (Vulcan S, $7,499). Same A2-friendly positioning. Volume seller for Kawasaki UK in 2026.
SE version adds smartphone connectivity +$400 The Eliminator 500 SE ($6,999) adds the RIDEOLOGY app integration via smartphone connectivity — call notifications, route logs, pre-selectable ride modes. Otherwise mechanically identical to standard model. Non-trivial uplift for the price.
