30-Year Arcs / Hyper Naked / Husqvarna Nuda 900R Lineage
Husqvarna Austria

Husqvarna Nuda 900R. BMW's short-life Husqvarna naked.

Husqvarna launched the Nuda 900R in 2012 under BMW ownership — 898cc parallel-twin (F-series-derived BMW engine), aggressive supermoto-style chassis, 105bhp, 188kg dry. Only 3 model years (2012-2014) before BMW sold Husqvarna to KTM. Production stopped immediately under KTM ownership. Cult bike now.

What actually changed.

Husqvarna's BMW era · Nuda 900R · 2012-2014
BMW-Husqvarna Nuda 900R era 2012-2014, 3 years BMW bought Husqvarna in 2007. Developed Nuda 900R using F800 parallel-twin engine in Husky-designed naked chassis. Launched 2012, killed end of 2014 when BMW sold Husky to KTM. Only ~5,000 units made worldwide. Properly cult bike — limited production, BMW reliability, Husky aesthetic.
Why BMW sold Husqvarna Strategy realignment, 2013 BMW sold Husqvarna to KTM's parent (Pierer Mobility) in 2013 after deciding the brand didn't fit BMW Motorrad's strategy. KTM immediately killed the Nuda 900R (and the BMW-derived Husky lineup) and rebooted Husqvarna with KTM-platform bikes from 2014+ (Vitpilen, Svartpilen).
vs Vitpilen 801 (modern Husqvarna) Different parent Vitpilen 801 (2024+, 889cc parallel-twin from KTM 890 Duke, 105bhp): modern KTM-derived. Nuda 900R (2012-2014, 898cc parallel-twin from BMW F800, 105bhp): BMW-derived. Same general role, different parent companies, different engineering. Used Nuda 900R is the rarer collectible.
Real cost trajectory Held value £9,499 Nuda 900R in 2014 (£12,800 today). Used market in 2026: £4-6.5k for clean low-mile. Held value relatively well because of cult status and very limited production. Pay attention to BMW-pattern fuel pump (F800-shared issues), reg/rec, parts availability.
Rider aids count 2 Nuda 900R had FI and ABS as standard. No TC, no ride modes, no electronic suspension. Modest by 2026 standards but acceptable for 2012-launched bike.
Cheapest way in £4k A clean Nuda 900R from 2012-2014. 105bhp BMW F800-derived parallel-twin, Husky-designed naked chassis, that distinctive aggressive aesthetic. Pay attention to fuel pump, reg/rec, parts availability (KTM-era Husky doesn't service BMW-era parts). Specialist BMW Motorrad service for engine parts.
